We all know that Avatar is James Cameron’s baby. The child that went along to make millions of dollars, and in-turn, the parents rich. If you criticize said baby, expect him to stand in its defense. Well, some Halo diehards have had some unsavory comments about the sci-fi epic. Most notably they’re pointing out that Avatar copies the style of the Halo franchise. Something I find a tad ironic.

Jim had this to say in an interview with G4TV:

The funniest thing is when some of the so-called fanboys get up trashing Avatar for looking too much like Halo,” he laughed “It’s like…pay attention. If I’m referencing anything, I’m referencing the source work for Halo, which is my own stuff. So I get to do that. Nobody else gets to do that, but I get to do that. My rule, anyway.

Makes sense. It’s widely known that Halo is heavily inspired by ‘Aliens’–ideas that Cameron created over two decades ago. I’d give the Halo lovers the benefit of the doubt if they’re unfamiliar with the classic work (nearly impossible).

I wonder what the artists at Bungie have to say about all of this…

About the Author:  I can't say that I'm much of a video game fan. Why am I managing and writing for a video game website? It's because I just lied to you. Well, halfway fibbed. I'm more of a game freak, and if you're reading this, it's likely that you enjoy games as well. I love writing and talking about video games, and it sometimes can consume the desire to even play them. Weird I know. And I'd like you to know that whatever you read by me will be honest (unlike earlier) and an attempt to express my love for this lifestyle as poetically as possible.
