Where the heck are the crucial details for Sony’s motion controller? At last years E3, they stated that the vibrator-esque device would launch into retailers this Spring. Well, it’s not quite Spring, but we haven’t gotten any info beyond the initial unveiling. I’d really like to see details of pricing, SKUs, games, and developer support. Lord knows that CES 2010 was a missed opportunity. Maybe they’ll unveil it all at GDC next month.
Recently, Patrick Seybold, SCEA senior director of corporate communications had this to say:
2010 will offer entirely new gaming experiences to consumers as we launch MAG, God of War III, 3D gaming, and the new motion controller this year.
This year huh? When exactly? It’s looking like Microsoft may have a better thought out game plan with their Project Natal. Even extending to strong development support as noted by Ubisoft this week.
In the meantime, Nintendo sits back counting dough, ready to laugh at either of the other two console manufactures’ possible slip ups. This makes me want to play some Wii. Maybe I will. Peace.

I think Sony is going to have trouble selling and mass-appealing their Motion control. Natal already seems to be loved by the media and Nintendo’s Wii has long since past the expectations. Maybe it’s just early, but I’m a little worried with the release of the motion controller. At least some devs are noted to be on board with Sony. Sony can’t always rely on their own studios all the time.
